Milk rice
  • 100 Gram (g) short grain rice
  • 400 Millilitre (ml) milk
  • 25 Gram (g) butter
  • 20 Gram (g) sugar
  • 1 Peck salt

This rice-milk pudding is preferable for babies older than 12 months because we are using cow milk. Wash the rice in water and drain it. Bring the milk to boil and add rice and salt in a medium saucepan cook over medium heat. Immediately reduce heat to very low and simmer, stirring often and scraping bottom, for about 45 minutes. Add sugar and simmer for another 10 minutes. Stir often to keep from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla preferable. Adjust sugar to taste and serve hot or cold, sprinkling the top with some ground cinnamon or cocoa powder. For the young babies you can add apple puree or compote, for kids you can flavor with cocoa for instance.
